Serving all Faiths and Cultures
The city of Windsor and area’s cultural
fabric has dramatically changed over the last half century,
due in part to an influx of people from around the globe.
In response, Windsor Memorial Gardens has designated
sections of the cemetery to accommodate different religious
traditions and customs, including Catholic, Chinese, Greek,
Muslim, Ukrainian and Non-Denominational.
Honouring Our Vets
For most of human history, war memorials were
erected to commemorate great victories; remembering the fallen
was a secondary concern. Today, the intent of war memorials
is not to glorify war, but to honour those who have died.
At Windsor Grove and Windsor Memorial Gardens,
all military ranks are honoured, dating back to the 19th century.
Between our two facilities, we have set aside three special
sections as final resting places for our war veterans.
The monument at right, located at Windsor Memorial
Gardens, was erected in 1975 in memory of WWI and WWII Veterans.
The inscription reads:
“By the grace of Almighty God, may all who pass this
way hold sacred in their hearts the memories of those who
fought and died that we might live in freedom.”
